Liverpool Children's Hospital School (February 2018)
Making money for our school was so easy. Everyone shops online these days, and just by making a few simple changes, something you were going to buy anyway can give a small percentage back. Having a small pot of money available, these days when budgets are so tight, to buy pieces of equipment which are not seen as strictly necessary, but can make huge differences is absolutely wonderful. The process of receiving our money couldn't be easier and we are very grateful to Chris and the team for creating such a simple fundraising tool.

Summer Grant Application 2017
Once we had identified the need for a child to be supported over the summer holidays, School Angel were immediately on the case.
Their swift action, quick decision making and generous funding support allowed us to source the correct provision, liaise with staff and make the necessary arrangements .
Now, the child will receive the support he needs and we can all be confident his needs are met, even though he isn’t in school.
Thank you School Angel Team

We have found School Angel a really useful way of fundraising. Everyone is shopping online these days and it is a really simple way for people to raise funds. We regularly share the page on our facebook and twitter pages as well as advertising when parents are in school for events such as Parents' evenings and assemblies. The Parents' and Friends' association is in charge of keeping an eye on funds and will be deciding where the funds are used.
We are grateful to the School Angel fund for deprived children. We have a number of children in school who don't have clean uniform each day and we are supporting them to come to school clean. In order to do this we are washing their uniforms in school and allowing them to use the shower facilities. We have provided these children with uniforms and the deprived children fund, donated by School Angel, helped towards to cost of kitting the pupils out.

The question is not ‘why should you sign up to School Angel,’ it’s why not! It’s a no-brainer. There are many reasons for participating in the scheme and no reason not to. Set up takes only a matter of minutes and then it’s time to familiarise staff, students, parents, governors and the local community to order through your website. It’s important to keep reminding them. Then watch the cash roll in!!

The Queen Katherine School is proud of its association with School Angel. This charity has one simple aim, to support schools in raising money for whichever good cause they feel is worthwhile, for example, we are raising funds to buy additional stock for our library. The site is easy to use and can be accessed by any member of your school community when shopping online. This really is a simple and easy way to raise additional funds for your school. Furthermore the founders, Chris and Jacqui, are dedicated to supporting each school to get the best of their own page and have been a delight to work with. I would whole heartedly recommend school angel to any school or educational body.

As one of the first schools to pilot School Angel I am delighted to endorse this innovative form of Fund Raising for Schools. School Angel is extremely easy addition to the more traditional forms of ways pay for additional benefits for our students. At the Queen Katherine School we aim to raise enough money to buy 1000 new books for our library to support our successful Accelerated Reading Scheme which benefits all our students. Parents, staff, students, friends of the school and the general public can all very easily and at no cost contribute every time they shop at lots of retailers on line.
School Angel is just so obvious it is amazing that no one has thought of it before, we are delighted that this charity was set up and are proud to be associated with it, may it grow to allow more schools and their students to benefit.

When School Angel first approached us with the offer of free funding my immediate question was of course, “what’s the catch?” The simple answer given then was “there isn’t one” and that is absolutely true. It is simple to sign up and the team support you all the way to get started.
Just a few months after signing up with School Angel, and spreading the word to parents and staff, we have been able to provide several extra opportunities for children that we simply couldn’t have afforded to do ourselves. From a drama teacher to run after school sessions; developing self-esteem and confidence, to individual support for a child so that he could attend a club.
Not to mention the cash total on our own dedicated School Angel Web link which increases daily as parents and friends choose School Angel to access their on-line shopping. All we have to do is remind the parents every now and then to remember to click on the School Angel site first whenever they buy online.

For a few months we have been trialling the use of NEO 2 Alpha Smart assistive technology with a range of year 7 pupils. The Alpha Smarts offer word processing facilities, in a light and portable package. The keys and functions are simple to use and can be accessed with little instruction.
One year 7 child has benefited highly from the technology. This pupil lacks confidence academically and socially and started the year on a level 2 in English- well below his peers. Without the technology he was showing some progress but was still behind his peers. He was reluctant to engage in lessons and saw himself as being separate from others as he needed support from a Teaching Assistant in all tasks. This pupil has welcomed the technology and has become more of an independent worker. He is able to begin a task without help with his writing and is able to complete tasks within the same time limit as his peers. In a recent assessment he has gained a level 4-.
We would like to continue to give this pupil and other pupils with similar issues access to the Alpha Smart in all lessons, not just those that are supported by Teaching Assistants. I believe that the use of these Alpha Smarts will increase pupils’ confidence and help them develop independent learning skills. As laptops can now be used in external exams, if it is the pupils ‘normal way of working,’ I believe this will help improve the overall academic outcome for the pupils.
With School Angel's assistance we plan to purchase 2 more alpha smarts with a carry case to help protect them and prolong their shelf life.
