The School Angel grant programme for disadvantaged pupils
2020 Grant awards now open!
If you are a teacher and are aware of a pupil within your school who is disadvantaged with either a physical or mental disability or due to social deprivation who needs our help then please get in touch by following the guidance below:
School Angel is a unique charity which relies on teachers who know their pupils best to identify cases of hardship and need in a child. This may vary from items of school uniform or a warm coat and shoes, to a computer or specialist software, school trips, additional tuition, or adult support to allow a child to attend out of school activities etc.
Whatever we fund it is highly targeted and very much needed to help that child keep up with their peers in class, reducing stigmas, and helping them in often small but important ways so that they have the chance to achieve the best they can during their school years.
If your school has been an active member of School Angel for six months or more then it is eligible to request help. An active member means that it uses its fundraising page regularly and has a clear link from its school website onto its School Angel fundraising page.
All that we need is a request from the teacher explaining the circumstances of the child and what is needed. The funding we provide is nearly always delivered discreetly, with the identity of the child and help provided kept confidential.
For guidance: Please don't make 'generic requests'. For example 10 iPads or a new sandpit etc, this is not what we fund. We look to help a particular child with a specific need, which is not met elsewhere.
We do still on occasion and for exceptional circumstances provide one-off discretionary grants outside of our standard award program. Get in touch with us at [email protected] if you would like to apply for assistance.
