School Angel has two principal charitable aims relating to schools, these are firstly to advance the education of children and secondly to advance the physical well being of children.

Every year the charity raises thousands of pounds enabling our partner schools to invest in thier facilities in a multitude of ways so that pupils benefit and make the most of school.

Our mission :
'Help every UK school child achieve their potential during the most formative years of their lives'.

We use all the profit raised from the income generated through the School Angel website to purchase items and services for schools which fit within our charitable aims.  We are particularly keen to ensure that all Primary aged school children have the opportunity to learn to swim which is a key curriculum aim, but also one which many schools struggle to fund sufficiently. We encourage all schools who register with School Angel to let us know what they are aiming to fund early on so that we can work with them in achieving their wishes.

It may help here to illustrate what we can and cannot help schools to fund.

What School Angel will fund:
  1. Additional educational books required by a school to improve the childrens education
  2. Computer equipment
  3. Sports equipment
  4. Music equipment / extra-curricular music lessons to promote and enhance children's musical education
  5. Sports sessions eg. lessons at a local leisure complex
  6. Special equipment for classrooms which enhance learning eg. electronic whiteboards
  7. Additional financial help to support disadvantaged children through either physical / mental disability and including social deprivation
  8. School transport / extra-curricular school activities
  9. Specialist equipment required for children with disabilities eg. sensory equipment for visually impaired children etc.

This list is merely intended as a broad guide for the types of requests for help School Angel can be used for, it is not exhaustive and we are always open to suggestions for providing other items which fit within the charity's stated aims.

What School Angel will not fund:
  1. Any type of School infrastructure normally funded by the Education Authority, eg new buildings or maintenance of new or existing buildings including upgrades to school infrastructure such as central heating systems etc.
  2. Normal / routine staff training courses
  3. General expenses attributable to the normal running of a school eg. utility bills, purchase of standard textbooks normally bought by the school etc.

Examples of what we have provided funds for 2018:
  1. Large sum towards restocking of the school library.
  2. Major investment in improvements to science and computing facilities.
  3. Several large projects to improve outside spaces with play equipment, seating playground markings etc.
  4. Sports kits for entire school teams.
  5. Specialist medical equipment to enable a severely disabled child communicate at school
  6. Large quantity of school uniforms for disadvantaged children in both Primary and Secondary schools
  7. Numerous small scale donations ranging from exercise books for disadvantaged pupils to funding special care for pupils without parental support.
